After consistent training and review by your instructors, you may have the opportunity to officially join Tamiya Ryu and continue on a path of serious study. At that time, you will be asked to fill out an application, go through a interview and purchase an equipment package (Practice sword, training outfit, patch, Iaijutsu belt, cleaning kit). These costs and proceedures will be covered in class.
First time students will have an additional $15 charge for equipment due at the first class to the instructor. Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes ( work-out clothing is fine - t-shirts should be without large logos or graphics on them). If you currently own a white keikogi (martial arts uniform), you may wear it in class - please remove any other school patches or insignias first.
All
students must be 16 years or older to sign up.
Please note,
our "cross training policy" is in effect for all students
below the rank of Shodan. If you decide to train in Iaijutsu at
the same time as training in another martial art, you must be ranked
Shodan (or higher) in either art (and have permission from your
other teacher).
