ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Thanks to the diligent efforts of Deshi Eric Hufnagel-san (Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu Nidan), we have begun a 3-phase video project that will allow visitors to this site to have a glimpse of what USTRI is all about.  What you are able to view currently is Phase 1 – General Introduction, Shinsakai (Testing), Enbukai (Formal Demonstrations) and Konshinkai (Social Gathering). Phase 2 will profile O-Keiko (Regular Practice) at both the USTRI Michigan Honbu in East Lansing and the Southeast Michigan Honbu in Birmingham. Phase 3 will be completed in 2011 following the visit to Michigan by 15th Soke Tsumaki Kazuo Genwa Sensei and his Assistant Endo Tsuyako Gentei Jokyo.  When all three Phases are complete a new Photo/Video Gallery section will be added to this site so that all three videos can be viewed easily and conveniently.

The current video is also being aired in the Grand Rapids area on the local access channels in several versions of varying length.  It is our great hope that this new project will help to give our readers a closer look at the activities of USTRI and, in the end, help to promote the growth of this classical Japanese sword art in the United States.  Thank you, Eric-san, for all that you have done, and continue to do, to help bring a first-hand look at Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu to the public!
